Strategy acquires another 8,178 bitcoin for $836 mln

Investing.com-- Corporate treasury specialist Strategy Inc (NASDAQ:MSTR) said it purchased an additional 8,178 bitcoins for approximately $835.6 million during last week, according to a regulatory filing.

The acquisition raised the company’s total bitcoin holdings to 649,870 BTC, valued at about US$48.4 billion for the coins alone.

Strategy said the bulk of the funding came from recent preferred-stock offerings, reinforcing its long-term “buy and hold” bitcoin strategy.

The purchase comes amid heightened volatility in cryptocurrencies, with bitcoin hovering near US$90,000, and underlines Strategy’s aggressive accumulation approach even as its shares face pressure.
